Meeting Between the Ribeira Sacra D.O. Regulatory Council and the Ourense Provincial Council

The president of the Regulatory Council of the Ribeira Sacra Denomination of Origin (D.O.), Antonio Lombardía, met with the president of the Ourense Provincial Council, Luis Menor, to discuss various initiatives aimed at strengthening this designation of origin, considered a strategic asset for the province. During the meeting, they reviewed different action plans focusing on improvements for producers, management, and tourism promotion.A central theme of the meeting was the development of strategies to elevate the D.O. to higher levels of profitability and business success while maintaining landscape conservation as a priority. Discussions centered on aligning actions to benefit winemakers, wineries, and the region as a whole.Another key objective addressed was the promotion of sustainable cultivation through the installation of weather stations, which will provide critical data to optimize production. Additionally, the Regulatory Council emphasized the need to advance digitalization, both in internal management and in interactions with affiliated wineries and winemakers, to modernize processes and improve efficiency.In the realm of tourism, the importance of enhancing promotion efforts was underscored, particularly for the Ribeira Sacra Wine Route, which plays a vital role in the region’s tourism offering.Luis Menor reaffirmed the Provincial Council’s commitment to these initiatives, stating, “We are dealing with an absolutely strategic sector for Ourense.” Meanwhile, Antonio Lombardía highlighted the value of institutional collaboration, noting the “excellent rapport between the Regulatory Council and the Ourense Provincial Council.” Lombardía expressed his gratitude to the president for his interest in the Ribeira Sacra D.O. and his willingness to support efforts in sustainability, management improvement, wine promotion, and the development of the Ribeira Sacra Wine Route, which will benefit the entire region.
