D.O. Ribeira Sacra celebrates the XXVI Tasting of its wines on May 26th and 27th

The Regulatory Council of the Ribeira Sacra Denomination of Origin celebrates on May 26th and 27th, the XXVI Ribeira Sacra Wine Tasting, which will take place in the municipality of Pantón with the pre-tasting on the 26th and on the 27th the tasting will take place final. 3 categories are established, being necessary, as a minimum, to have 6 samples in each category.

The categories of the contest are:

• White Wines: Ribeira Sacra Súmmum Blanco wines corresponding to the 2021 harvest, being able to present as many brands as the winery wishes for tasting. The minimum volume of the consignment must not be less than 1000 litres. The minimum stock at the time of collection will be 500 bottles.

• Red Wines: Ribeira Sacra Red wines corresponding to the 2021 harvest, being able to present as many brands as the winery wishes for tasting. The minimum volume of the consignment must not be less than 1000 litres. The minimum stock at the time of collection will be 500 bottles.

• Wines of Other Vintages: Ribeira Sacra wines from vintages other than the 2021 vintage that did not participate in previous editions and barrel-aged wines from the 2021 vintage, being able to present as many brands as the winery wishes for tasting. The minimum volume of the consignment must not be less than 500 litres. The minimum stock at the time of collection will be 300 bottles.

Wines produced by wineries registered in the records of the D.O.Ribeira Sacra that are in the marketing phase can participate in the Tasting. In the categories of Whites and Reds, 3 prizes are established: Gold Medal, Silver Medal and Bronze Medal. In the category of Other Vintages, the following are established: 1 Gold Medal if the number of participating samples is less than or equal to 14, 2 Gold Medals if the number of participating samples is equal to or less than 20 and 3 Gold Medals in the case of that is greater than that amount.

The awards ceremony will be held on May 27th, coinciding with the end of the Tasting and taking advantage of the fellowship meal organized by the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra.

Technicians of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra will collect the samples during the next few days, choosing 3 samples at random from the winery stock. The notary will proceed to bagging, sealing and numbering the bottles, which will remain properly guarded until the Tasting is held. The wines will be tasted by series, starting with the White Wines and ending with the wines of Other Vintages.

The maximum number of selected wines that will go to the final tasting will be 10 for the category of Red Wines and 6 for the categories of White Wines and Wines of Other Vintages.
