Ripening controls have begun for the 2022 harvest in the D.O. Ribeira Sacra

This Tuesday, August 23th, the maturation controls began in the D.O. Ribeira Sacra. Techniques of the Regulatory Council carry out these controls in representative plots of five subzones of the D.O. (Amandi, Chantada, Ribeiras do Sil, Ribeiras do Miño and Quiroga-Bibei) and with all the associated grape varieties.

These controls serve to determine the state of the grapes and help establish the official date recommended by the Regulatory Council for the start of the harvest, without prejudice to the fact that some wineries can start the grape harvest earlier if their grapes have the appropriate conditions.

Last year the plenary session of the Regulatory Council set the start date of the harvest on September 15th, although on the last weekend of August some wineries began with the Godello harvest, the harvest would last until October 20th.
