23/05/2023

The Ministry of Rural Affairs, through the AGACAL, and with the collaboration of the regulatory councils of the Ribeiro, Valdeorras, Rías Baixas, Monterrei and Ribeira Sacra denominations of origin, organizes the XXXV Wine Tasting of Galicia. The tasting will take place between June 5th and 9th.

Wines produced by wineries registered in the registers of appellations of origin may participate. Wines from the 2022 harvest will be tasted, except those presented in the categories "Previous Harvests", "Wood Elaborations", "Sparkling Wines" and "Toasted Wines". The samples will correspond to brands that are being marketed and labeled according to the regulations. To compose the sample, six bottles will be chosen at random from the homogeneous batch of contestants. A representative of the organization and a representative of the winery will sign the label of each of the bottles collected. One of the sample bottles will remain in the cellar and the remaining five will be sealed for tasting.

In the D.O. Ribeira Sacra the collection of samples will take place between the 24th and 26th of this month of May. Technicians from the Denomination of Origin will accompany Acagal technicians to collect the participating samples. 66 samples from 25 wineries will participate. There are 6 brands in the white category and 19 in the red category. The following brands are presented in the other categories:

  • Wines from growers and small white wineries, 1
  • Wines from harvesters and small red wineries, 5
  • Wines from previous white vintages, 5
  • Wines from previous red vintages, 9
