Pre-harvest ripening controls

These previous controls that are carried out in the vineyards of the different subzones of the Denomination of Origin, will determine the state of the grape and will help to establish the official date recommended by the Regulatory Council for the beginning of the harvest.

The controls are carried out by the technicians of the Regulatory Council in plots representative of the five subzones that make up the designation of origin and with all the grape varieties that are included in it.

The results of these controls are of great importance since they offer data on the ripening conditions of the grape. With them, the Plenary Session of the Regulatory Council, which will be held in the next few days, will be able to determine the official recommended date for the start of the grape harvest, without prejudice to the fact that some winery can start the grape collection in advance if the grapes have the adequate conditions.
