Ribeira Sacra exceeds the quantity of grapes collected in the last campaign

The D.O. Ribeira Sacra continues on with the work of harvesting the grapes, the figures for the grapes harvested by variety on the 30th of September were the following:

The grapes that are coming into the bodega are in excellent condition and of very good quality. The C.R.D.O.R.S are hoping to reach around 5 million kilos of grapes at this years harvest.

The grape harvest of the year 2008 officially began in the D.O. on the 25th of September and it was completed by the 20th of October, the figures for the total harvest of last year were the following:

On the basis of these figures it can already be confirmed that the D.O. has significantly increased the quantity of harvested grapes with respect to the previous year. There are still 2 more weeks of the harvest to go and therefore the total figures could reach close to 5 million kilos of harvested grapes. The weather forecast continues to be good up to the weekend, a weekend that will once again see alot of activity. On the 1st of October 44 bodegas were open, 44 had finished the harvest and 7 still had not started.
