Harvest begins in the D.O. Ribeira Sacra
Adega Damm S.L. from the sub-area of Amandi begins this Wednesday, August 28, the grape collection works. Meanwhile, the technicians of the Regulatory Council of the Ribeira Sacra Denomination of Origin, carry out the grape ripening controls that will help set an official date for the generalized start of the harvest in this Denomination.
The ripening controls are always carried out in the same plots, representative of the five sub-zones and with grapes of different varieties. With the results, the C.R.D.O. technical department will prepare a report that will be submitted to the full so that the official recommended date for the start of the harvest is set.
The weather conditions have been favorable and no pests or fungi have been detected that have significantly affected the strains. The sanitary state of the grapes promises to be optimal and makes us trust a harvest of more than 7 million kilos of grapes. From this week more information on the quality of the grape and its ripeness will be known.
