A TRIUMPH FOR THE D.O. RIBEIRA SACRA...
The results of the XXII Galician Wine Tastings, that are organised by the Council for the Environment, have just been announced in Verin.
Two of the autonomous awards were given to this Denominación:
The best red wine in Galicia: Regina Viarum 2009 de Regina Viarum S.L.
??Viño de Colleiteiro? para Estrela de Carlos Díaz Díaz
Within the D.O. Ribeira Sacra the awards were as follows:
Acio de Bronce: Guímaro de Pedro Manuel Rodríguez Pérez
Acio de Plata: Cruceiro de Ramón Marcos Fernández
Acio de Ouro: Saíñas de Javier Fernández González
As well as awarding the best wines within each D.O., the Galician Wine Tastings gives a prize to the best red wine from Galicia, the best white wine and prizes to ??viño de colleiteiro?
The basis of the tasting for the prize in the group ??Viños de Colleiteiro?, is that the best wine of the harvest from all the D.O.s is selected. In order to select the best red wine from Galicia and the best white wine, a final tasting is done between the wines with the highest marks in each Denominación with the best being selected and those wines then being excluded from obtaining prizes within the D.O. section.
These are rewards for the hard work that has been done and it should continue in this way, said the President of the Regulatory Council, José Manuel Rodríguez, who was present at the tastings in Verin and showed his satisfaction for the achievements obtained in a year in which the Denominación has achieved excellent results wherever it has gone.
