After this weekend at the D.O. Ribeira Sacra have collected more than 5 million kilos of grapes, of which most correspond to Mencía with 4,061,418 kilos, followed by the white variety, Godello, with 374,791 kilos.
The harvest officially began on September 19th, although several wineries had begun collection at the end of August. Last year the harvest ended on October 19th and it is expected the end of this campaign is again by these dates.
On September 29th and with 5 million kilos of grape harvested, 53 wineries are picking grapes, 10 have the paralyzed grape harvest and 27 have already finished. When the equator of the campaign is over, 6 wineries remain to start the harvest.
The works have been favored by excellent weather conditions that contributed to the optimum state of the grape and the fixation of its acidity. D.O.Ribeira Sacra ends September, the month in which the grape harvest has once again become the economic engine of the territory generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs, to follow the same trend in the month of October.
