This Friday, October 18th, the last grapes collected in the D.O. The 2019 vintage  thus becomes the most abundant in the D.O.Ribeira Sacra, after having touched in 2011 the 7 million kilos; and it is surpassed in almost 1,100,000 kilos to the last campaign.

The President of the C.R.D.O.R.S., José Manuel Rodríguez, shows his satisfaction for the quantity and quality of this harvest, “We are satisfied because there is quantity and quality. On this occasion there was no frost problem, no hail, nor did we have a complicated spring as it happened in recent years. There was generally more grape and of very good quality and the wineries were waiting for it because they need it for the market. D.O. Ribeira Sacra sells all its production, therefore, the wineries have a market for this wine. We finished a campaign in which everything went smoothly, we increased on average 10% in production compared to the average of recent years and we also increased 10% in price, since the grape was paid at € 1.20 .”

In addition to being the most abundant harvest in the history of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra, this campaign has also become the longest. The recommended date for the beginning of the harvest was September 19th, but on August 28th the first winery opened the harvest and on October 18th the last grapes entered in winery, product of the heroic vintage.

With the harvest finished, the D.O. Ribeira Sacra is now preparing to host, between October 24 and 26, the XXIV General Assembly of the Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils (CECRV), a meeting that will bring Ribeira Sacra closer to 98% of the wine sector with Denomination of Origin in Spain.
