D.O. Ribeira Sacra enters in a new year. Winemakers work to prepare the vineyard with pruning and update the walls, while promotion activities are already underway.
This same Monday, January 13th, D.O. Ribeira Sacra will be in Navarra with the Association of Sommeliers of Navarra, who organize a wine tasting of the Denomination, with the presence of the President of the C.R.D.O.R.S., José Manuel Rodríguez.
The fair season opens soon and from January 22nd to 26th, D.O. will be in Fitur; from February 6th to 9th, in Xantar. Also in February, on the 28th, D.O. Ribeira Sacra will celebrate the Qualification Tasting of the 2019 harvest. On this occasion the appointment will be in the municipality of Portomarín. The month of February will be completed, among other activities, with the participation of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra in Decanter, in London.
The Wine Fairs will begin in March, being the first date in Chantada, the second weekend of March. They will be followed by the Amandi Wine Fair, the Quiroga and Vilachá Fairs to end the Pantón Fair. The month of March will also lead to the D.O. Ribeira Sacra to Prowein and Gourmets.
In May, the Wine Tasting of the Ribeira Sacra Denomination of Origin will be held, on May 28th and 29th. The D.O. follows its upward trend after living its best year. They have exceeded 7 million kilos that will involve more bottles of wine in the market, thus being able to meet the demand of the wineries. José Manuel Rodríguez speaks about the year at the promotion level, “We are Ribeira Sacra, we are more than 7 million kilos and we will continue taking our wines to national and international fairs and events, and participating in many activities allow us to open or consolidate markets.”
The Ribeira Sacra territory also lives an excellent moment with the BIC declaration and the candidacies for World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve. This symbiosis between wine and tourism is manifested in wine tourism, which increasingly attracts more visitors from the Ribeira Sacra Wine Route.
“Tourism is another tool, there are more and more wineries that allocate people and resources to wine tourism, to receive visits… That is a sign that it is growing and things are being done. The wineries are modernized in tourism issues, with tasting rooms, spaces to receive people, accommodation linked to the winery, ... Every day there is a greater advance in these issues and we hope to continue growing in this line, to help more people visit us, ”says José Manuel Rodríguez.
