Annual meeting of the OIVE Joint Committee -CECRV

22/07/2019

The Spanish Wine Interprofessional Organization (OIVE) and the Spanish Conference of Viticultural Regulatory Councils (CECRV) held on July 18, in Madrid, a new session of its OIVE-CECRV Joint Committee.  Both organizations highlighted the harmony between the parties in these months because "we are all sectors" as pointed out by David Palacios, president of CECRV. For his part, the president of OIVE, Ángel Villafranca, positively assessed the natural relationship between the two institutions that is being very constructive.

The meeting addressed some of the main issues that occupy the agenda of the sector at this time. The meeting was used to know what will be the next promotion campaign that OIVE will develop from next October.

On the verge of publishing the new Standard Extension, Susana García, director of OIVE, presented the lines of action planned for the next five years and thanked the support that has been produced so far by CECRV, especially in direct actions with the consumer. The meeting of the OIVE-CECRV Joint Committee also allowed the identification of lines of joint work between both organizations on different topics such as the measures of stability and quality of the Spanish wine sector that are being studied from within OIVE. The president of OIVE, Ángel Villafranca, took the opportunity to request an effort from all parties, including public institutions, to achieve greater coordination when our wines go out to promote themselves outside of Spain.

The constitution of the OIVE-CECRV Joint Committee is the result of a collaboration agreement signed in 2017 by the Spanish Wine Interprofessional (OIVE) and the Spanish Conference of Viticultural Regulatory Boards (CECRV). Said Joint Committee contemplates in OIVE's own statutes that the agreements adopted by this body by consensus will be submitted to the governing bodies of both organizations. The Joint Committee has allowed both organizations to work together on issues related to the aims and objectives of OIVE and CECRV, as well as to value the contribution of the sector in terms of economic, social and environmental sustainability and to enhance and promote the research, development and innovation of the wine sector.
