After the first official harvest weekend in D.O. Ribeira Sacra 483,709 kilos of grapes were harvested

D.O. Ribeira Sacra set the recommended date for the official start of the harvest on September 15th, although some wineries began collecting grapes of certain varieties on the last weekend of August. After the first official harvest weekend, 483,709 kilos of grapes entered the winery, of which the majority correspond to Godello with 211,862 kilos.

The rest of the varieties are distributed as follows:

Red Varieties:


  • Mencía 179.965 quilos
  • Merenzao 18.872 quilos
  • Garnacha 5.928 quilos
  • Brancellao 8.090 quilos
  • Caíno tinto 1.080 quilos
  • Tempranillo 306 quilos
  • Mouratón 90 quilos
White varieties:
  • Godello 265.873 kilos
  • Albariño 42.724 quilos
  • Treixadura 10.943 quilos
  • Dona Branca 2.934 quilos
  • Branco Lexítimo 578 quilos
  • Torrontés 222 quilos
  • Loureira 115 quilos

Of the 97 wineries that hope to harvest under D.O. Ribeira Sacra in this campaign, 39 are harvesting, 12 have it paralyzed and 2 have already finished. 44 wineries are expected to start the grape harvesting work. The grape that is entering the winery has an optimal sanitary state and the works continue to be carried out with all the necessary measures for the prevention of Covid19.
