Gallaecia Sommeliers Association announces the Gallaecia Distinctions 2022. The distinguished wines in this contest are the result of a double tasting, one of them with market wines to know the wine that reaches the final consumer. All Distinguished wines have exceeded the cut of 84 points (O.I.V. tasting sheet). The publication leaves a balance of 1,500 wines and distillates tasted from more than 500 wineries and distilleries (all those covered by the DOs and IGPs of Galician wine) and a total of more than 2,000 references.

The authors, Luis L.Paadín and Alejandro Paadín and the President of the C.R.D.O.R.S., José Manuel Rodríguez, participated in the presentation of the Galician Wine, Winery and Distilled Guide 2022 this Friday at the C.R.D.O.R.S. headquarters. After this time of pandemic, Luis L. Paadín analyzed the behavior of the wine consumer with a tendency to bet on our own, “Wine consumption did not suffer from the pandemic, it increased, what changed was the way of consuming it. Consuming wine at home, which is fantastic, and in this sense, I think wineries have to review the way wine is purchased, as well as the way it is consumed. We saw that clearly more was committed to what was ours. Talking with wineries, it is clear that Ribeira Sacra wines have a very marked acceptance in the environment, I think it is the D.O. Galician where that concept of terroir is lived more as culturally it is a product of ours. Terroir is not only soil, climate and grapes, it is also culture because you have internalized that wine. Ribeira Sacra sells the Godello that is so fashionable now and continues to sell that concept of Ribeira Sacra Atlantic Mencía to consumers here and abroad, which shows that people are normally proud of our products.”
