D.O. Ribeira Sacra has collected 575,005 kilos after the harvest officially started yesterday

D.O. Ribeira Sacra set September 15th as the recommended date for the official start of the harvest, although some wineries began harvesting grapes of certain varieties in the last days of August. After the first official day of harvest, 575,005 kilos of grapes entered the winery, of which the majority correspond to Mencía, 251,682 kilos. The amounts per variety are distributed as follows:

Red varieties:

  • Mencía 251.682 kilos
  • Merenzao 14.676 kilos
  • Brancellao 7.111 kilos
  • Caíno tinto 4.270 kilos
  • Garnacha 2.986 kilos
  • Mouratón 1.363 kilos
  • Tempranillo 37 kilos
White varieties:
  • Godello 236.728 kilos
  • Albariño 32.245 kilos
  • Treixadura 14.343 kilos
  • Dona Branca 3.582 kilos
  • Blanco Legítimo 1.334 kilos
  • Torrontés 1.163 kilos
  • Loureira 935 kilos
Of the 92 wineries that hope to harvest under the D.O. Ribeira Sacra in this campaign, 41 are harvesting, 47 wineries are pending to start the work of grape collection and 4 have already finished. There are 2,208 winegrowers registered for this harvest and 1,270 registered hectares. The grape that is entering the winery has an optimal health status.
