The Ribeira Sacra Interpretation Centre, located in the old town hall in Monforte, can be visited from next week, after it has undertaken a presentation to the media and businesses. The Interpretation Centre welcomes the headquarters of the
Regulatory Council which has been operating from this new building since the beginning of the month. Here the Council has modern and functional offices, as well as a laboratory and a tasting room with all the latest technologies. The Centre also houses the wine club, which includes a space for conferences and exhibitions, a wine
shop and a café with tapas bar. The rest of the building consists of a new exhibition space that combines audiovisual media, photographs, texts and exhibits that represent the Ribeira Sacra.
For the Regulatory Council´s President, José Manuel Rodriguez, the opening of the centre is a joyous occasion for all of the sector and the region. The President thinks that the Centre should be a link for all the Ribeira Sacra, a focal point for all the 3,000 people directly related to wine production in the D.O., the 7,000 people that have some connection with the sector and all the residents and visitors to the Ribeira Sacra. For José Manuel RodrÃguez the Centre is the result of everyone´s hardwork and therefore, should be a place for everyone.
The Vicepresident of the Regulatory Council, Evaristo RodrÃguez thinks that the completion of the Centre is a great achievement and will help promote the Ribeira Sacra to the world. The Centre should be the point of entrance and exit of everything pertaining to the D.O. He thinks that the Ribeira Sacra is a unique place that needs to be opened up to the world and this is a significant step forward in the history and culture of the wine production here.
The Regulatory Council of the D.O.R.S. has great hopes for this new Centre and in the Wine Trail that will also open this year.
