The C.R.D.O.R.S. has decided to update its promotional material. The result of this is, an informative 10 page brochure which includes a map with information about the region, accompanied by photos of vineyards that are characteristic of the 5 subregions of the D.O., information about the bodegas and general information on the D.O., including a short introduction about the Ribeira Sacra, heroic viticulture, the Regulatory Council, information about the wines and the grapes and their natural characteristics.
The new brochure is written in three languages (Galician, Castilian Spanish and English) all within the one brochure.
The main aim behind these modifications is to reduce the amount of material available in order to make it more user-friendly, so that all the general information can be found in one product in the most commonly used languages. In short, it aims to bring together all the essential information about the D.O.
The new brochure is also about showcasing the pictures that we have of the Ribeira Sacra. As well as the photos of the vineyards in each subregion, it uses two emblems of the Ribeira Sacra, on the front page (the vineyards on the slopes at Doade) and on the back page (O Cabo del Mundo at A Cova).
At the same time in order to put substance to these pictures, the slogan has been modified. The new slogan is 'The taste of the countryside'. It continues the theme that the Regulatory Council has promoted since the beginning, of associating wine with its region and promoting the wine as a product of its environment, of our countryside.
The initial print run is for 8,000 copies and these will be started to be distributed during Alimentaria, from the 22nd to the 26th of March.
At the press conference, the President of the Regulatory Council, José Manuel RodrÃguez, presented the new brochure and said that the Regulatory Council of the D.O. will be hosting the next Asamblea de la Conferencia Española de Consejos Reguladores VitivinÃcolas (Meeting of the Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils). This will take place on the 16th and 17th of April. Participating in the meeting will be representatives from a wide range of Spanish Wine Regulatory Councils. As well as being a working meeting, with a programme to set in place future dates, the participants will have the opportunity to get to know the Ribeira Sacra and Santiago de Compostela which is celebrating the year of Xacobeo.
José Manuel RodrÃguez did not miss the opportunity to mention the good results of the last harvest. After finding out awhile ago that the evaluation of the harvest was very good, at the same qualification tasting, there was an estimate of 1,100,000 litres of wine that could be bottled and the qualification tasting approved 1,552,000 litres for immediate bottling. 'The harvest from this year is turning out really well and there is a demand for it in the market', stated the President of the Regulatory Council of the Denominación de Origen Ribeira Sacra.
