19 CERVIM medals in the Mondial des Vins Extremes for the wines of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra

Once again the wines of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra succeed in Aosta and return with almost twenty prizes after participating in the Mondial des Vins Extremes. The prizes will be awarded on December 1, 2019 at the Forte di Bard - Valle d'Aosta (Italy), where a representative of the C.R.D.O.R.S. will come to pick them up to deliver them to their recipients in the traditional food that the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra organizes at the end of the year.
 This year D.O. Ribeira Sacra presented 51 samples, 44 of red wines and 7 of white wines, belonging to 35 wineries and obtained in White Wines 3 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal. In the category of Red Wines, 6 Gold Medals and 6 Silver Medals are obtained. The palmares for the D.O. Ribeira Sacra is completed with 3 Gold Medals in the category of other vintages.

Mondial des Vins Extrêmes, organized by CERVIM (Center for Research, Studies, Protection, Coordination and Valorization of Mountain Viticulture) is the most important oenology contest worldwide, reserved for wines produced in mountain regions or from heroic crops (altitude above 500 meters, terrain slope greater than 30% (in points of the Ribeira Sacra DO reaches 80%) or vineyard cultivation systems in terraces).

With this contest and in the daily activity CERVIM promotes and emphasizes the oenological production of those lands that are characterized by their structural difficulties, but also by unique wines that have an extraordinary personality.

The final objective is to emphasize the unique characteristics of these elaborations and to raise awareness of the cultural aspects of mountain viticulture and the valuable work that wine growers do to safeguard these territories and the environment.
