D.O. Ribeira Sacra faces the first official harvest weekend with 1,323,239 kilos of grapes harvested

D.O. Ribeira Sacra set the recommended date for the official start of the harvest on September 16th, although some wineries began collecting grapes of certain varieties in some plots on August 28th, beginning the harvest work in the Ribeiras do Sil sub-area.
About to face the first harvest weekend from the date recommended by the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin for the start of the works, 1, 323, 239 kilos have been collected, which by varieties are distributed as follows:
Red varieties:
- Mencía 873.802 kilos
- Merenzao 40.027 kilos
- Garnacha 25.119 kilos
- Brancellao 17.887 kilos
- Caíno tinto 16.042 kilos
- Tempranillo 7.058 kilos
- Sousón 6.704 kilos
- Mouratón 789 kilos
- Grao Negro 0 kilos
White varieties:- Godello 265.873 kilos
- Albariño 31.875 kilos
- Treixadura 22.931 kilos
- Dona Branca 5.016 kilos
- Torrontés 3.060 kilos
- Loureira 629 kilos
- Blanco Legítimo 427 kilos
Of the
95 wineries that hope to harvest under D.O. Ribeira Sacra in this campaign,
21 have already finished, mainly small wineries, which decided to rush the tasks before the possibility of rain in the coming days. In any case, it is expected that this weekend will be busy in the vineyards of D.O. Ribeira Sacra, when 66 wineries are harvesting and 8 have not yet started work. The grapes that are entering the winery have an
optimal sanitary condition and work continues with all the necessary measures for the prevention of Covid-19.
